Christopher Buckley

http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2008-10-10/the-conservative-case-for-obama

The author of the book I chose, “Boomsday”, wrote this blog entry on who and why he is voting for this year’s presidency. Christopher Buckley is a well know author but also well known for being the son of William F. Buckley who past away this year. I came across this article because it was the second hit on Google under of course, Wikipedia, when I was looking up some background information on my author. It must be important commentary come up as the second hit for Google. Christopher followed his father’s footsteps not only by becoming a write but also his conservative outlook. In this article he explains how it is the first time he is voting democratically this year, which is going against their republican tradition. He talks about how he first favored John McCain and eventually on how his campaign fell to pieces, to cause him to vote for Barrack Obama. I agree with everything he said and we kind have the same view, except he knows a lot more then I do when it comes to backing up your points. Also reading some of the comments below the article, the negative ones, also take part on influencing my under knowledge of knowing about the candidates, but that is beside the point. Barrack over McCain any day. Now what I like even more then the article itself is how well it was written. It makes me excited to read and finish one of his most popular books.

Street art is something that has always interested me. Now that I live in the city I am around it all the time and I love it. I think graffiti is form of communication in the means of getting your name or art out there, by putting it in different places where people start to notice your stuff. Hopefully the feedback will be positive from the audience viewing your art, where they will stop and stare and be like “Wow that is awesome, or that is talented” Advertising one’s art is also very important by putting it in places where many people see it is key. On a side of a building or anywhere that is daring catches the views attention. Now the street artist named, Banksy, is amazing. He is a graffiti artist born in Britain that does works of art based on topics such as politics, ethics, and for entertainment. When someone becomes famous graffiti artist they have to tightly their identity under closed doors. He does work all over in places like, New York City, London, Australia, and many other cities, simply getting his name and art out there in the world and running from a lot of police. Banksy makes stencils of anything as you can see in the photo blog and his website. Besides his art being amazing the places where he puts is art is amazing as well. I am mind boggled anytime I see street art where it is anywhere when I am like, how in the fuck did you get up there, let only paint that monstrously big image. It’s crazy.

The man

I actually was able to watch this second presidential debate between Obama and McCain this past week. I was not satisfied in terms of enjoying my time watching it or being able to decide who I liked. I am not a fan of either but I would support Obama over McCain any day. I feel like either of them would not be fit to be a president for four years or more. McCain’s health issues make him very likely to die very soon. If he won the election then the worst would happen if he were to die while he was in office. The vide president Sarah Palin would now become president. HA! That would be ridiculous, actually let me rephrase that statement and say John McCain is ridiculous. He was entertaining to watch him stumble around with no podium in front of him to lean of and also watching him trying to make funny jokes about Obama. I came across this video which I also thought was hilarious he just out of nowhere calls Obama, "that one" haha. However as much I would support Obama over McCain I feel like Obama is like a preacher. When he speaks about what he plans to do he is giving like a gospel speech on changing this and changing that. I seriously hope if he wins he can stick to his word, which I know both of these guys never do. Let alone accomplish these tasks and pick up the United States through these future hardships.

???

So the deadline to register to vote is coming up. Firstly I would like to say that I am not registered to vote for this year’s election or at least not yet. I am not too concerned because I do not really know anything about the election or the candidates. From what I know, I am not a fan of either of the parties. However I feel like this piece of media is speaking directly to people like me like the producers intended it to do. The video does seem to drag on for a lot longer then it should, cramming in all these celebrities to grab the viewers attention. I am not a fan of propaganda like this although I do have respect for the good job, idea, and quality of this video. This video probably inspired many people to vote. I do have to comment on if you get tired of this video and it loses the viewers attention after about a minute, it is basically telling you not to vote which I think is funny. I am a fan of Jonah Hill, the fat dude from Superbad; he is brilliant. If it was not for him I most likely would of shut this video off after a minute or so. This video also makes me think, “Are all these celebrities really going to vote?” I mean they are obviously getting paid to do this and say what they say so who knows. So much to think about with this election.
